A back handspring learned outdoors on grass with no mats or spotter, which changes the progression more than the trick. Rather than throwing it cold, the outdoor route starts low: squat, reach around to the side and hop onto the hands โ essentially a macaco โ then swing the arms more vertically and jump a little higher each round until the movement straightens into a true handspring over the top. The technique itself asks for a real lean back before the explosion, jumping backwards at roughly 45 degrees with the arms thrown by the ears into an arch. The hands land with shoulders, elbows and wrists stacked so the skeleton carries the load, followed by a hard snap-down from the core that pikes the legs under and pops the chest up. The classic faults are not travelling back far enough, not pushing out of the shoulders, and stalling in the arch instead of committing through the snap-down.
