Half Twist Jump

1 · Beginnergymnastics🀾 Garden Trampoline

A half twist jump is a straight bounce with a 180-degree turn, taking off and landing on the bed facing opposite directions. The turn starts on the way up: the arms lift tall with the bounce and then pull toward the chosen side while the hips carry the rotation around β€” shoulders alone will not finish the turn. Coaches treat it as the doorway to all twisting skills: a fixed twist side is picked early, the arm pull is drilled on the ground first, and the turn is kept patient rather than snatched off the bed. On a garden trampoline the landing is the real test of control, with the feet returning to the middle of the bed and the body tall and ready for the next bounce. Once the half is consistent it extends naturally into the full twist jump and later into twisting flips.

Key cues

  1. Pick one twist side and stick with it
  2. Reach the arms tall with the bounce
  3. Pull the arms toward the twist side
  4. Drive the turn from the hips
  5. Land mid-bed tall and in control
